In this blog post, we will explore the top 10 housebuilders in the UK. We have ordered this list based on 2020 turnover, and therefore the order may not be strictly up to date. It does, however, provide a fascinating insight into who the leading players in the industry are!

Official government statistics show that 243,770 homes were built in 2019/20, which is the highest number of homes built in a year since 1987. The number of new homes brought to market rose for the seventh year in a row. More than 1.8 million new homes have been built since 2010, however, this is still not meeting the demand. The government target is 300,000 new homes a year and some argue that we would actually need to build 340,000 each year to catch up with the level of demand.

Housebuilders widely use the SiteStak system.

Almost all of these housebuilders now have the SiteStak system in use across their sites. While they don't tend to supply them directly, they mostly encourage their groundworks subcontractors to use our system. SiteStak promotes a tidier and safer method of work when installing drainage systems which benefits the main contractor and the groundworkers directly.

Watch A tidy site is a safe site! Celebrating 1000 SiteStak Workstations for underground drainage storage on YouTube.

SiteStak is a system that stores underground drainage materials before installation, making it quicker to move them around a building site and assess stock levels. It also doubles up as a workstation for cutting pipes to length, including a clamp and saw guide. Companies use SiteStak to promote a culture of tidiness and encourage working methods that reduce waste and mess.

Top groundworks contractors working in housebuilding in the UK

Groundworks is an essential phase of any housebuilding project. Some of the tasks carried out by groundworks contractors include site preparation, excavating foundations for houses, laying pipes and wires for services like gas and water. The groundworks companies also build roads, install sewers and carry out landscaping work such as planting trees and paving.

Here at SiteStak, we work with most of the top groundworks companies, including MV Kelly, ECL Civil Engineering and M&J Evans, to name a few. You can see our list of the top groundworks companies in the UK in a previous blog.

If you are interested in the SiteStak system and feel it could help your construction company please contact us for more information.
